Sports
The discipline
Sports photography is learned at real events, so these workshops embed in them — club athletics, cycling, surf, local leagues — with the access negotiated in advance. The craft is position and anticipation: knowing the game well enough to be focused where it is about to happen.
Technique covers autofocus strategy, panning, remote setups, and the fast edit under deadline that separates working shooters from spectators with good gear.

Field notes
Learn the sport's rhythm first; the peak moment has a warm-up.
Backgrounds decide the picture. Position for them, wait for the athlete.

Questions, answered
What gear do I need?
A body that tracks focus and something in the 200–400mm range. Loaner telephotos are available on most dates — listed per workshop.
Will we get real access?
Yes — that is the point of embedding in scheduled events. Bibs and positions are arranged, and their responsibilities briefed.
Is the editing deadline drill mandatory?
Strongly encouraged: file, caption, and transmit five frames within an hour of the finish. It is stressful once and instructive forever.
