The problems money can't solve

Advanced

Advanced photography

The discipline

Advanced workshops are for photographers whose technique has stopped being the obstacle. The work is on judgement: editing, sequencing, consistency of voice, and the honest confrontation between what you make and what you claim to be making. Small groups, portfolio surgery, assignments designed to break comfortable habits.

Expect to photograph less and think considerably more than you're used to.

Field notes

Remove your ten best photographs; describe what's left. That's your voice.

Master the boring frame. Bodies of work are built on connective tissue.

Stop collecting techniques. Start refusing them.

Questions, answered

How is admission decided?

By portfolio — fifteen images and a paragraph on what you're stuck on. We admit for readiness, not accomplishment.

What if my genre isn't represented?

Advanced teaching is genre-agnostic; the room usually spans four or five disciplines and is better for it.

Is there follow-up?

A group review call one month after, and the instructors read one further edit within the year. Progress needs witnesses.
