The working city
Jaipur was planned on a grid and painted in a single terracotta pink, which makes it that rare thing: a city with art direction. The bazaars run trades in ordered blocks — bangles, brass, block-printing — and above them the facades hold jharokha windows like camera positions waiting for subjects.
Beyond the walls, Amber Fort's ramps and courtyards handle light like an amphitheatre, and the stepwells hold their geometry in shadow all day.
When to come
October–March. January's kite festival fills the pink sky with paper rectangles and rooftop crowds.

- Rooftop cafés are Jaipur's tripod: chai-priced elevated positions over every landmark.
- The pink is really terracotta — it photographs best in warm low light, flat at noon.
- Bazaar portraits come easier with a purchase in hand; the bangle economy runs on it.
