Documentary workshops are built around real, ongoing stories — a fishing harbour's season, a workshop district, a market's last year before redevelopment — negotiated with the communities in advance. You will learn access, consent, sustained attention, and the sequencing that turns coverage into narrative.
The ethics are the syllabus: what you owe the people photographed, and what the photographs owe the truth.

Will I be embedded alone?
Pairs at most, in rotation, so the presence stays light. Group review happens each evening.
What happens to the work?
Yours, always — and participants are invited to submit the workshop story to LUMENS for consideration in the community gallery.
Is this photojournalism training?
It overlaps — access, captioning, and ethics carry over — but the pace is essayistic rather than news-driven.
