The discipline
The beginner workshops assume nothing and condescend to no one. Exposure, focus, and light are taught by making photographs, not by diagrams — a day of walking, framing, and small corrections that compound quickly. By the end you will operate the camera without looking at it, which is the whole foundation.
Auto modes are neither banned nor mocked; they are understood, then outgrown at your own pace.

Questions, answered
What camera should I buy first?
Ideally none yet — bring what you have, even a phone, and buy after the workshop when the money knows what it's for.
Will I be the slowest one there?
The group is all beginners and the pace is set by questions, not by the schedule. Slowest is a rotating position.
What comes after?
Most graduates take a genre workshop within the year — street and landscape are the common next steps. We'll advise honestly on which fits your pictures.
